Because impact lies in the details and is built up on a daily basis, we are convinced that changing our consumption habits is the first step towards reducing our environmental footprint.
Being a responsible player also means being actively involved in the communities around us. At Alerion, we give time, resources and expertise where they matter most.
Green Sanctuaries was born out of a strong conviction: primary forests are a global treasure that urgently need protection. Every minute, 18 football fields of tropical rainforest disappear. Yet, they are vital to all of humanity: vital for our climate; our access to water; our food; the preservation of an incredibly rich, critically endangered, and largely misunderstood biodiversity; our health; our innovations; and our economy.
Driven by the conviction that there is still time to act, Christophe Gerschel founded Green Sanctuaries to provide a concrete response to the threats facing primary forests. The organization takes the form of an endowment fund, complemented by an association created in 2025.
On the ground, Green Sanctuaries deploys a unique five-pronged protection model: land securing, scientific research, awareness raising, support for indigenous communities, and the promotion of sustainable economic alternatives.
In 2026, more than 1,700 hectares of invaluable forests have been placed under protection between Latin America and Africa, and 275,000 hectares are set to benefit from reinforced protection. More than 10,000 people, particularly women and indigenous communities, benefit directly from its actions. The organization also contributes to the protection of more than 180 species threatened with extinction.
Within this framework, Alerion is committed alongside Green Sanctuaries. This partnership illustrates a shared desire to support concrete actions for the protection of primary forests and biodiversity, as well as the communities that depend on them for the benefit of present and future generations.
At Alerion Avocats, we are convinced that businesses have a role to play in preserving living ecosystems and supporting those committed to biodiversity. Driven by this momentum, we have established a partnership with the association Un Toit Pour Les Abeilles (A Roof for Bees), which has been working since 2010 to protect bees and develop local, ethical, and responsible beekeeping.
Through the sponsorship of beehives and 40,000 bees, Alerion takes concrete action to:
Our partnership also relies on a dedicated local partner: Alain L., a beekeeper who has been committed to organic beekeeping for over 12 years. His hives, located between Fontainebleau, Champagne-sur-Seine, and Villefermoy, thrive in a preserved environment. He supports the colonies through the changing seasons and produces honey that we proudly share with our community.
Legal Watch – Climate Litigation
The Alerion Climate Litigation Observatory monitors dozens of climate-related litigation cases in France and around the world, analysing the reasons behind them and drawing lessons from them.
These lessons are presented periodically in a newsletter.
